Decatur Wine Festival

It’s hard to believe with the deep freeze we are experiencing now that just last weekend I was sipping wine at the Decatur Wine Festival.  It was a sunny, crisp autumn day that was perfect for a wine tasting.  Well, actually anytime is a perfect time for wine tasting, but I digress…..It’s an annual event that I try to attend every year.  Last year I procrastinated in buying my ticket and it sold out!!!  I vowed that would never happen again so I purchased my ticket well ahead of time to ensure I would be able to enjoy this highly popular festival.

Decatur Wine Festival

It was warm enough to wear this great shirt dress I got at an Alternative Apparel warehouse sale for only $15!!!  I paired it with some cognac-colored boots for comfortable walking and a pop of color cobalt blue bag.

Decatur Wine Festival

It was packed with happy wine lovers.  You knew people were starting to feel their wine when they began dancing to the music.

Decatur Wine Festival

Some of the lines were a little long for the complimentary food items but it’s not as bad as long as you have wine while you wait.  There was food from great restaurants like Souper Jenny, Parker’s on Ponce, Iberian Pig, and more!

Friends that drink wine together stay together :-)

If you missed it this year, definitely mark your calendar for next year!

GQ + Glamour Magazine Fashion Show

One of the great perks of being a fashion blogger is having the opportunity to attend fabulous events like the GQ + Glamour Magazine fashion show at Lenox Square.  The show featured looks by Bloomingdales, Brooks Brothers, St. John, Herve Leger, and Nicole Miller.  It was wonderful with delicious food including mini cupcakes from Sprinkles and free flowing cocktails and wine.  There was even a champagne after party at the St. John store after the show.  This was definitely not an event to miss but if you did, I took some great photos to share with all of you.

Everyone who knows me, knows how I feel about flip-flops.  They belong in the shower, poolside, or beach and not on the streets!!  I’m so glad it’s almost boot season in the south.  Anyway, have a great weekend :-)

Fall Trend: Crocodile Handbags

If there’s one ‘it’ bag you need for this fall season, it’s a crocodile handbag.  I know it can set a fashionista back several thousand dollars but there are many faux croc options available that are just as beautiful.  When I think of a crocodile handbag, it instantly brings thoughts of luxury and sophistication like the iconic Hermes Birkin bag.  I personally love a classsic top handle satchel bag, but designers have created some amazing crocodile handbags in all kinds of styles.  You will no longer be limited to brown and black with this closet staple.  Tory Burch has a beautiful cobalt blue tote as well as a juicy red choice by YSL.  If you really want to be funky, try a two-tone bag like the Dolce Gabbana pictured below.  Either way, you can’t go wrong with purchasing this timeless classic which will continue to be relevant for many seasons to come.

Tory Burch Watch Collection!!

Yes. Yes. I know….it’s been a while since I’ve posted.  I apologize in advance but life has just gotten in the way.  I’ve been super busy working a full time doctor job as well as teaching Pilates (I am a glutton for punishment), so my poor little blog has been neglected.  But if there’s anyone who can bring me back out into the blogosphere its Tory Burch.  I almost literally leapt with joy when I saw that the Tory Burch watch collection will be launching October 1!  As to be expected, the watches are gorgeous!!!  There are four different lines.  A tomboy-ish collection, leather strap, wrap bracelet, and a cool clear face style.  They start at $395 and go up as high has $995, but after you take a look I’m sure you’ll agree they are well worth it!

Tory Burch watch

This style also comes with different face colors, but this deep navy is such a great contrast with the gold.  It has a nice classic and masculine feel to it that will always be in style.

This ivory leather strap is smooth and sophisticated that can be paired with warm winter whites or a cool flirty summer dress.

Tory Burch watch

I love the sleek rectangular face of this watch and the textured metal makes it stand out structurally from those similar in style.

This collection is quirky and cool.  A great way to add a little spunk into your wardrobe.

The gold and navy one will definitely be on my Christmas list.  Which style is your favorite?

The Casualization of America: Have We Gone Too Far?

casualization of America

Source: stylehive.com

Jeans and a t-shirt used to be the quintessential casual outfit in our society, but lately it seems to have been replaced by luxury sweatpants and high-end yoga leggings.  It seems that everywhere you look, people are running around in activewear.  Even the stay-at-home moms have replaced ‘Mom’ jeans for their Lululemon yoga pants (which may actually be a good thing).  Some critics in the fashion community refer to it as the casualization of America. At first glance, it appears like we have become a more physically active society, but unfortunately, that is not the case.  People have decided to perpetuate an active lifestyle without putting in the work which in my opinion, defeats the purpose of wearing body-hugging attire.  Isn’t the point of doing a million squats to show off your great ass?

casualization of America

The innovation of designer athletic wear is largely to blame.  Brands like Lululemon may have led the way but now many other designers are getting into the activewear game.  Some of my favorite brands Beyond Yoga, Alo, Splits 59, and Koral activewear have beautiful clothing that can easily go from the gym to lunch.  Even brands like Urban Outfitters, Loft, and Gap are making luxury athletic wear more accessible to the masses. Kate Hudson’s Fabletics, I believe, is going to be a game changer as far as creating high-end activewear affordable.  You can get an entire Fabletics outfit for less than a pair of leggings! It’s so tempting to spend all day and evening in some of these clothes because designers are now using such irresistbly soft fabrics.  I feel kind of guilty that my many pairs of $200 jeans are going unworn but they just feel so uncomfortable compared to my leggings (and I have NOT gained any weight).

casualization of America

I have travelled all over the world and have been slightly embarrassed by the sloppy reputation of American travelers.  You can spot us out a mile a way with or cut-off jean shorts, tank and flip-flops.  We tend to lack the sophistication of many of the other first world nations and this yoga pants epidemic is not helping our case.  I am just as guilty as everyone else.  If you had told me even a year ago that I would wear a pair of workout leggings and an off-the-shoulder top out to dinner, I would have said you were crazy.  But I have and I probably will continue to do so.  Why? Because it’s cute and comfy, and I even feel a little sexy.  So, maybe we are not the most chic country in the world, but we are innovators and I think the rest of the world will soon follow our lead.  Do you think we have taken this look too far?

Get Fresh with Mesh

Mesh?!?! This material immediately gives me flashbacks of the 80’s when I was trying to emulate my role model, Madonna. It can be a scary thing to wear.  If done wrong, you can look like you belong on the Fashion Police segment Starlet or Streetwalker.  However, when it’s done right, it can be demure and very chic.  It’s a  great way to show just enough skin to draw interest but keep them guessing about what’s underneath.  I’m loving the way designers are taking mesh to the next level.  A one-piece swimsuit with mesh paneling is the perfect example of subtle sexiness for the lady who doesn’t want to bare it all in a string bikini.  Also, wearing a mesh pump can be slimming by elongating the appearance of your legs.  Mesh designs have always been common in athletic wear but now have a more sophisticated look and a cut-out mesh dress will make you a show-stoppper at any formal event.  So, don’t be scared.  Go ahead and get fresh with mesh this summer!

Kim Kardashian Hollywood Game

Source: nydailynews.com

Source: nydailynews.com

I have a new favorite waste of time. The Kardashians have sucked me in once again with the Kim Kardashian Hollywood game.  I tried it because it was free and had absolutely no expectations and now I’m completely addicted! It is actually exquisitely designed and easy to navigate.  The avatars are quite exceptional as well.  When I started the game, I was a lowly sales girl at a boutique and in walked Kim Kardashian! I successfully styled her for an event after which she quickly befriended me and hooked me up with contacts that eventually led to gigs.  These gigs include modeling for various brands, appearances, and really just being me for which I get paid handsomely (sound familiar).  You require energy to complete your tasks.  You can get energy by using your stars (which you have to earn or purchase), but I have found that I can just wait for my energy to replenish.  It takes a little longer but no money is spent. The instant gratification of money and new clothes is really addicting which is why I climbed from an E-list celebrity to an A-list celebrity in just one week.  I have reached level 12 of 19, have 37.2 million fans, a condo in L.A., a house in Miami (next to Kim’s), and I haven’t spent any of my actual money to do it. If only real fame and fortune was this easy to obtain.  Well, I guess it is for some….lol! All in all, it’s a great way to pass the time next time you’re stuck in a long line or just want some mindless fun to relax.

Enjoy!
