Shoe Review: Corso Como Over-the-Knee Boot

I have been searching high and low for the perfect black, low-heel, over-the-knee boot.  I really wanted the highly coveted Stuart Weitzman 50/50 boots but $595 was not in the budget.  So, I was hunting for a cheaper knock-off and found the Corso Como over-the-knee boot on Piperlime.  Of course, I waited until after Christmas for them to go on sale and alas, they were sold out!!!  Back on the hunt, I scoured the web and found them! Nordstrom to the rescue, again!  Not only were they in my size and on sale, my husband gave me a gift card for Christmas.  When I received them in the mail, I was not disappointed.  I loved the glossy leather finish and the elastic back provides a nice snug fit on the leg.  I couldn’t wait to wear them and paired them with some skinny jeans and an oversized sweater.  I will admit that the toe box is not very deep and I did began to feel it on the top of my foot.  I think if I change my socks, this will remedy the problem.  I still absolutely love these boots!

Shoe Review: Area Forte Riding Boots

The only thing better than a great pair of boots is a pair of military-inspired boots.  I first saw these Area Forte riding boots in Anthropologie last season and instantly fell in love….but not with the price.  I scavenged the web and found the same boots for way cheaper on 6pm.com.  I was delighted to add these unique boots to my collection.   The subtle mottled look to the brown leather give them a vintage feel making them so intriguing.  The design is also very interesting with a lace-up detail on the front and rustic silver buttons along the side.  This is the type of boot that makes a statement even though it’s a classic that will be relevant for years to come.  They were definitely worth the investment :-)

Burak Uyan: Designer Shoes to Covet

I am always perusing the fashion magazines, blogs, and other media and every once and a while I come across something that makes my heart skip a beat.  Insert….Burak Uyan, shoe designer extraordinaire.  Uyan is a German-born designer that has had stints at Givenchy and Giambattista Valli before concentrating on his own fabulous collections. His shoes are divinely architectural and feminine and they ooze sexiness.  I imagine I would feel like a lioness on the prowl for my next victim in these shoes.  Since these are a little outside of my shoe budget, I have yet to try them on, but I do like the hidden platform design in most of these shoes which adds some extra comfort.   Below are a few of my faves I found on Polyvore.com.  Eat your heart out ;-)

Shoe Review: Kork-Ease

Today’s shoe review will be a little different.  Instead of reviewing a pair of shoes I already own I’m reviewing shoes I want to own.  I was in my friend’s store last week and I spotted these beautiful Mary Jane pumps.  I slipped them on and they felt like heaven.  Kork-Ease is a new line to my friend’s store, but the company has been around for a long time.  Actually, since 1953.  The company is based in Brooklyn, New York and became popular for their thick, cork platform sandals.  Now they have a variety of gorgeous shoes to offer such as boots and adorable wedge oxfords.  These are the shoes that captured my heart…

Kork-Ease

Aren’t they sweet!  It’s great to find a company that can make a comfortable shoe and still maintain their modern vintage vibe.

Shoe Review: Seychelles Lucky Penny Ankle Boots

I was a little sad that summer was ending until I started noticing all of the pretty new boots that are beginning to debut for fall.  Now that I got these gorgeous Seychelles lucky penny ankle boots, I can’t wait for fall!  I first spotted them in my Anthropologie catalog but actually found them for much cheaper at DSW.  I have skinny ankles so it is often difficult for me to find an ankle boot that doesn’t make my legs look like they are swimming in the boots.  The nice curve on the top of these boots is very flattering and the pewter color is just awesome.  Expect to see these in many of my future posts paired with jeans, skirts, and dresses!

Shoe Review: Leopard Booties

Don’t get it twisted! Fall is right around the corner and the fashion forecast calls for booties and more animal print.  I’m glad to be able to dust off these leopard booties I bought last year and give them new life.  This year I’m going to make an effort to pair them with skirts and dresses instead of just my skinny jeans.  I purchased these from Shoxie.com which is a fashion website developed by the fashionista behind Style Pantry, Folake Kuye Huntoon.  This fashion maven is definitely one of my style icons and her impeccable taste translates to her online store.  You will find great, trendy clothes at very reasonable prices.  You can thank me later :-)

These leopard booties are hot, but not so comfortable.  I try to make them a little bit more tolerable with gel cushions inside and only wear them to places I won’t have to do a lot of standing or walking.

Shoe Review: Talbots Rattan Strappy Sandals

You know it’s summer when you break out a rattan strappy sandal.  This pair by Talbots are wonderfully playful and delicate.  I wish I could take the credit of picking these out but they were a gift from my Mom.  She knows me so well :-) The heel isn’t too high and it has a small platform sole for comfort.  I also love how the straps are adjustable with tiny buckles on both ends (genius). I haven’t worn these to work but I feel like I could probably get away with it.  I do however, like to pair these with a cute full skirt or cuffed skinny jeans to show off the strap details.

Shoe Review: C. Label Loafer Pumps

I purchased these high heel loafers by C.Label years ago at a cute little boutique in Baltimore (I can’t remember the name).  I was drawn to the odd teal-greyish color and of course, the platform sole.  The great thing about a loafer pump is that the heel is usually pretty sturdy.  It’s also a classic look so, it will remain in style for years to come.  You can view some more loafer pumps on  my previous post on loafers.
