Decatur Wine Festival

It’s hard to believe with the deep freeze we are experiencing now that just last weekend I was sipping wine at the Decatur Wine Festival.  It was a sunny, crisp autumn day that was perfect for a wine tasting.  Well, actually anytime is a perfect time for wine tasting, but I digress…..It’s an annual event that I try to attend every year.  Last year I procrastinated in buying my ticket and it sold out!!!  I vowed that would never happen again so I purchased my ticket well ahead of time to ensure I would be able to enjoy this highly popular festival.

Decatur Wine Festival

It was warm enough to wear this great shirt dress I got at an Alternative Apparel warehouse sale for only $15!!!  I paired it with some cognac-colored boots for comfortable walking and a pop of color cobalt blue bag.

Decatur Wine Festival

It was packed with happy wine lovers.  You knew people were starting to feel their wine when they began dancing to the music.

Decatur Wine Festival

Some of the lines were a little long for the complimentary food items but it’s not as bad as long as you have wine while you wait.  There was food from great restaurants like Souper Jenny, Parker’s on Ponce, Iberian Pig, and more!

Friends that drink wine together stay together :-)

If you missed it this year, definitely mark your calendar for next year!

Yoga Block Party

Yoga is one of those activities I don’t do very often, but when I do I wonder what took me so long to find may way back to it.  This past weekend I attended a yoga block party in the parking lot of the Whole Foods Sandy Springs.  Yes….I said parking lot.  It seemed odd but it was actually really cool with a nice turn out.  It was hosted by Becky Cawood, the owner of Veda Yoga studio, with several sponsors such as Orange Theory, Ice Box, Women’s Premier Fitness, Whole foods, and Pink Barre.

I promise I was practicing my yoga but over hundred people doing warrior two was too great of a picture to miss.

At the end of our practice, there were some amazing giveaways including free Lululemon yoga mats, and gift baskets with $50 Whole Foods card and a $150 Lululemon card!!!!  Unfortunately, I was not a winner but congrats to those who received those fantastic prizes.

Despite the heat, it was a fun time.  Thanks to my friend, Sher, for introducing me to Becky Cawood and this wonderful event.  You can take a free Veda Yoga class at Lululemon Perimeter every Sunday at 10 am or follow on facebook  for more information.

Sunday Funday at the Shops Around Lenox

I have not enjoyed a Sunday Funday in quite a while, so when my dear friend told me about the Keg party at the Shops Around Lenox I jumped at the chance to go and enjoy a drink or two.  There are many adorable boutiques and restaurants in this plaza including, Lululemon, Fab’rik, American Apparel, Bill Hallman, and my new favorite Deka Atlanta.  I’m pictured below in front of Deka which is a beautiful store carrying luxury athletic gear such as Splits 59, Bia Brazil, Stella McCartney for Adidas, and much, much more! I can see this is going to become a problem for me being that I pretty much live in activewear and this place has many of my favorite brands.

Shops Around Lenox

Another boutique you must visit at the Shops Around Lenox is bevello.  The staff at this store are sooo sweet and accommodating and they have the most precious clothes.  The perfect place to find a cute maxi for a decent price or a flirty first date outfit.

I’m posing here with the ladies from Sugar Island Essentials.  They had a beautiful display of their bath teas and body scrubs that all smelled good enough to eat.  For more info email sugarislandessentials@gmail.com or visit them on Instagram.

I hosted a Chloe & Isabel party for some friends of mine a few weeks ago and I’m finally getting the opportunity to post what I received for hosting the party.  I’m wearing my new go-to statement necklace, the Torsade, that pairs perfectly with almost any outfit.  I’m also wearing these gorgeous Retro Glam crystal earrings.  I highly suggest hosting a party because the incentives are ah-mazing! Check out the site here for more info.

Mexico Birthday Surprise: Part 2

Here is the second half of the trip as I promised to you yesterday.  Even a beach lover like myself can only lounge in the sun for so long before I need some adventure.  On my last full day in Mexico, we hopped in our rental and drove 20 minutes south to Tulum.  I have some sort of weird obsession with ancient ruins and temples when I travel so I was excited to explore the Mayan Ruins of Tulum.

DSC03773

This was a huge national park with all different types of terrain from rocky cliffs to beaches and rainforest areas.  It was a mere $10 to enter and you could spend as long as you liked hiking, biking, swimming, or just relaxing.

It’s so amazing that these structures are still standing after all of these years.  Mankind can be absolutely intriguing!

There was definitely a mystical feeling in the air here.

Mexico Birthday Surprise: Part 1

I’m baaaaacckk!! Sorry for the short hiatus but my sweet husband surprised me and swept me off to Mexico for my birthday last week!  I was beyond excited because I hadn’t been to Mexico since spring break ’96 in Acapulco.  This trip was of a different nature, however.  I traded in partying at Senor Frogs for a relaxing on the beach and enjoying quality time with my husband.

DSC03751

We travelled one hour south of Cancun to Riviera Maya, Mexico.  I’m pictured here on the north end of our resort by the natural pool.

We stayed at the Grand Palladium Hotel & Resort.  A sprawling property with four separate hotels, multiple pools, and restaurants.

A Wedding Guest in Peter Pilotto for Target

Wedding season continues with another beautiful outdoor wedding.  This time the venue was at the picturesque Fox Hall Sporting Club and Resort in Douglasville, GA.  I was excited to finally wear this floral Peter Pilotto for Target dress for a beautiful garden wedding.  Just take a look at the stunning background!

DSC03714

The colorful floral print on this dress just really popped in the garden setting.  Black jewelry accents were a fun way to wear statement jewelry without taking any attention away from the eye-catching dress.

What I Wore: Yellow & Turquoise

It is definitely wedding season! I have back to back outdoor weddings over the next two weekends so I had to get my wedding guest attire in order.  The first wedding was at Serenbe Farms.  It’s a beautiful self-sustainable, eco-friendly community about 45 minutes outside of Atlanta.  Even though there was a threat of rain, I wanted to wear a bright and fun color combo like yellow & turquoise.  This is the first bright yellow dress I’ve ever worn.  What do you think?

Yellow & Turquoise

The turquoise accents are a nice cool complement to the hot yellow color.

These gorgeous Vince Camuto wedges were gifted to me by my wonderful friend and owner of Happy Feet Boutique.

AAMU Reunion Class of 1969

I had the wonderful opportunity to join my Mom and help her celebrate her 45th college reunion at Alabama A&M University.  My Mother had not been back to the campus since she graduated in 1969 and it was great to witness her soak up all the memories and enjoy old college friends on the drastically improved campus. Many of you are probably not familiar with AAMU so here are a couple of facts:

1) Established in 1875 as the Huntsville Normal School.

2) It was designated a land-grant institution by the state of Alabama in 1891 and is one of the largest college campuses in the U.S.

3) AAMU is ranked #10 in the nation by the U.S. Department of Education on Accessibility, Affordability and Outcomes.

I stopped to pose with the flag before heading to the Pavers Ceremony.  The ceremony was to announce those who would receive a stone in their name on the main campus walk way after giving a donation towards the AAMU endowment.

Urban vs Couture Fashion Show 2014

This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting up with a girlfriend of mine to see the Urban vs Couture fashion show.  It was a held at 595 North which is a nice event space in West Midtown. It was a rainy day so I decided to finally break out a rain coat I got at Tootsie’s in Buckhead during their end of summer sale.  It’s such a statement piece with the bright colors and crazy prints.  My first instinct was to play it safe with a monotone outfit but decided to try mixing prints by wearing a navy striped shirt and pop of color accessories.

What do you think?

I arrived early to get a good seat and a few snaps before the show started.  They also had a cute little pop-up shop with vendors from a variety boutiques.

Urban vs Couture fashion show

The first designer, Gayla Rogers, was probably my favorite show.  Her clothes were beautiful, flattering, and well constructed.

The crop top is so hot right now and I love the pairing with a fitted maxi skirt!

The audience enjoyed several musical and dance performances throughout the night.

Then the night took a different turn with some out-of-this-world designs by Avantoooh Glam Squad!  These designs were absolutely NOT practical, but extremely innovative and sexy.

Beyond Yoga: Electric Blue

I have been busy working on my Pilates certification which means more time in my athletic wear!  This week I’m featuring my favorite pair of Beyond Yoga leggings.  I was obviously drawn to the bright, electric blue color but also a little intimidated. I decided to try them on out of curiosity and also because I have nothing like these in my closet.  I was pleasantly surprise by how they fit.  Thanks to the luxe material the leggings have a flattering fit and they are oh, so soft!

Beyond Yoga

The black quilted block cami is another one of my favorites.  The texture is interesting and the fit is slimming.
