Spring has finally sprung! On this first day of spring, it’s time to stash away the burgundy and navy and bring out the pretty pastels for spring nails. I absolutely love the nail lacquers by butter London and they have some gorgeous choices for the spring.
Molly Coddled nail color
This purple-hued color represents the pantone of the season, radiant orchid. Be sure to grab this on trend color for spring.
Fiver nail color
I’m a sucker for mint nails. I was hesitant to try it at first but was surprised by how versatile the color actually was. It pairs well with just about any outfit.
Kerfuffle nail color
This peachy color is so vibrant and flirty! Perfect for a great beach getaway weekend.
Cottonbuds nail color
Clean white nails are always a great statement. A white manicure is a sophisticated option that looks great with a summer tan or naturally dark complexions.
Jaded Jack nail color
Be daring and try a super vibrant color like this bright yellow. You’ll be the life of the party with this fun hue.
Teddy Girl nail color
If you’re a little gun shy about trying very bright colors, a soft pink is classic and always in style.

This pretty pastel blue is a little off the beaten path but still very feminine and light.
You can find all of these colors at ulta and they are having a super sale (2 for $15) on butter London nail lacquers!
I’m not sure what took me so long to try eyebrow threading. I have tried every other type of hair removal under the sun. Waxing, plucking, creams, sugaring, and laser hair removal. All are pretty uncomfortable with unpredictable results. A friend of mine has been threading her eyebrows for a while and was satisfied with her results so, I finally decided to try it. I went to Arches in Lenox Mall in Buckhead. It’s a small place I have walked by countless times without giving it a second thought. I was happy to see sterilizers at each station being the germophobe that I am. They pretty much just take walk-ins so I waited a good twenty minutes before it was my turn.
Threading is an ancient hair removal method originating in India. The technician uses a piece of thread which is pulled tautly between their hands and teeth and the hair is removed by crossing the threads and pulling the hairs out at the follicle level. It supposedly provides a more precise control in shaping the eyebrows than waxing and is gentler on the skin. I also saw on the Dr. Oz show it’s the best way to remove chin hairs which is a very sensitive, hormonal area on the face. It’s pretty cheap at only $10 for eyebrows and lasts about a month. It was equally as painful as waxing but I think I like these results better. Check out the picture below:
The verdict is in! I give Nutra nail gel perfect manicure out of 5. The pros are that it is a cheaper alternative to a professional gel manicure, there are a variety of cool colors to choose from, and no UV light is required. The cons are that it definitely does NOT last 2 weeks. Here are my nails after 1 week.
As you can see, my right hand has a lot more wear and tear. The chips formed right at 1 week. I’m sure there is somewhat of learning curve when applying the polish. There’s a possibility my technique could improve with practice. I would use this product again perhaps in between manicures so I won’t have to go as often. I will certainly have a professional manicure for any special occasions like this weekend. I’m attending a wedding and baby shower so this what my nails look like now…
I went with OPI Russian Navy with a matte top coat and glossy tips! What do you think?
I admit it. I am totally addicted to gel nail polish. Once you get used to having instantly dry nails after a manicure and no chips for two weeks, it’s hard to go back to a regular manicure. Despite my love for gel, I’m not loving having to dish out around $80 a month so, I’ve decided to give Nutra Nail Gel Perfect a shot. It promises dry nails in 5 minutes with the beautiful luster appearance of gel but….no lamp required! So, along with saving money I can give my hands a break from the UV light.
The directions were fairly simple and the application process was easy. The most important part is making sure your nails are nicely cleaned and buff before starting the process. I chose the color Vintage Mauve for my first trial with this manicure. What do you think?
It really did dry with a nice shine in about 5 minutes. Not bad for my first time.
I will update you in a later post on the durability of this manicure. In the meantime, I’m really excited about my cheap, UV light-free, gel manicure!
Just a quick beauty note today. I have been meaning to share with you guys my newest lip gloss fav. I’m loving the Lippy by butter London. They are most noted for their amazing nail lacquers but their lip gloss is so smooth and creamy. It feels really soothing on the lips and is not too sticky. My favorite is Toff. It’s a great nude pink for just about any complexion.
Definitely check these out. I get mine from Ulta. If you’re already using their nail polishes then you can match your nails to your lips because some of the colors are available in both!
I’m an influenster! What’s that you ask? Well, a while back I joined an online community called Influenster. It’s a cool site where bloggers and other members of the media can participate in surveys and be selected to sample exclusive products in return for your feedback. I was selected for my very first product testing! I will be using the Fysiko eyelash growth serum for the next 16 weeks and you can follow me as I track my progress!
Here are my before pics….
As you can see, I have puny little eyelashes. Hopefully, after this experiment I will never have to use mascara again. We shall see…..
Today I’m writing my post from the spa! Yes, the spa! I learned about this little piece of heaven from a dinner with Boris Kodjoe. Yes…..I said Boris Kodjoe! I won a dinner with him through an auction I attended for the Frank Ski’s Kids Foundation almost two years ago. Three of my lucky girlfriends and I enjoyed a lovely dinner with great conversation with Boris and Frank Ski. We talked about everything and came across the subject of spa treatments. Boris told us about JeJu Sauna, an authentic Korean bathhouse and spa located about 30 minutes north of downtown Atlanta. He made it sound so amazing that I had to check it out for myself. Let’s just say, I now visit what I call ‘my little slice of heaven’ once a month.
The entry fee is $25 for 24 hour access to the facilities! You can spend the night in their sleeping quarters and they have a restaurant on site. They also have free wifi so you often see people surfing the web on their laptops or tablets.
They have 7 different saunas of varying temperatures that each have their own holistic properties. There’s the Gold Room which helps with nerve and anxiety conditions. The Charcoal Room helps withdraw toxins from the body. The Red Clay Room aids in healing overused muscles and the Jewel Room which improves overall mood.

You can receive other services for a fee. They have wonderful massages in which they stretch your sore muscles and they walk on your back to get to those deep back muscles. Their reflexology foot massage is a must! In the bathhouse, you can soak in the various pools or get a body scrub with a massage. Your skin will feel like a newborn when you’ve had one of their body scrubs! Lastly, women can get a hip bath. What is a hip bath you ask? This is a treatment to aid women in cleansing and removing toxins from their lady parts. It is recommended right after menstruation. It also aids in vaginal contraction which is recommended for women postpartum (shrink it up). You basically sit on what looks like a chair with no center. A pot filled with ancient herbs is heated up under your lady parts and you are then covered with a cloak that seals in the heat. You sit there between 30-45 min sipping green tea and chatting it up with your neighbors. I know it sounds a little out there, but you feel really….tingly afterwards. Plus, I feel like a lost 2 lbs from all the sweating.
If you’re in the Atlanta area or planning a visit, treat yourself to an all-day spa event a JeJu. You can check out their website for more info: www.jejuspa.net. Well, enough talk. I’m off to get my massage
I have begun to venture out from my typical blush color or French manicure routine. I first started by adding some more color like reds, pinks, metallics, and mint! I then came across some fun nail designs I saw on Pinterest and that really got my creative juices flowing. Along with my long time manicurist, we’ve come up with some fun creations. Check these out:
Here are some of the nails trends spotted on some the fashion runways
So, the rules for nails this Spring is that there are no rules. Do you and be creative!
