I’m going to keep with my theme of borrowed from the boys with these Dolce Vita oxfords I bought a few years ago at Bloomingdale’s in NYC. I was drawn to the quirkiness of them. The smoky grey color accented with studs with a very masculine feel. They weren’t necessarily en vogue when I bought them but I got them anyway because I liked them. Now oxfords are back in style and I already have a pair. It just goes to show you that you should just buy what you like because eventually, it all comes back in fashion.
Looking for some style inspiration? It may be closer than you think. Like in your own closet right next to your own clothes….yes! Steal your next style idea from your man. A “borrowed from the boys” look can be worn day or night but is always chic. Check out these three looks I’ve created from mens’ fashion.
Now go and raid your man’s closet. You never know what goodies you may find in there!
I’m thrilled to share with you this amazing new designer I stumbled upon a little while ago. The designer, Sheena Sood, has studied design at Brown University, Central Saint Martins College of London, and RISD. She has also worked for two of my favorite designers Tracy Reese and Zac Posen. Sheena launched her line in 2013 which is influenced by the bold colors of Brazil and the textiles of India to create this amazing funky, urban line.

I’m so in love with all of these looks! I definitely want to make one of those multi-wear dresses mine. Be sure to check out the rest of her looks at abacaxi-nyc.com.
The Getty Museum was founded my the J. Paul Getty Trust and has two locations. The Getty Villa in Malibu and the Getty Center in Los Angeles. The Getty Center opened in 1997 and since then has been providing a space for artistic expression and interpretation to the public. It is a beautiful, sprawling hilltop campus with gorgeous views of the city. I was elated to have the opportunity to finally pay a visit after a nice Sunday brunch.
As you can see, my mirror-printed Zara dress was on repeat for this occasion. I dressed it down with some flat sandals for all the exploring I planned to do at the Getty.
Just look how majestic the building looks with that gorgeous blue sky as a backdrop.
Just one of the many views of the city you can capture from the hilltop.
The sun was blazing once again so I would steal a little rest in any shady spots I could find.
Can you find me in this pic?
A really cool maze design in one of the courtyards.
As hot as it was, I know many people were probably tempted to cool off in this very inviting water.
Yep! Another shady spot.
This is probably one of the best views you can get of Los Angeles!
I know it looks from these pictures we only walked the grounds, but we did actually spend an ample amount of time exploring the different exhibits. Photos were not allowed and I didn’t want to go to Getty jail
On July 6, 2013 I witnessed two souls become one at my sister-in-law’s wedding. It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a wedding. The sky was blue and the sun gods were smiling on us that day. I waited up to the last minute to decide on which dress to wear but I was very happy with my decision to wear my Von Vonni maxi dress because that sun was HOT and shining right on us during the ceremony.
If you saw my post on the Von Vonni transformer dress you know what a wonderfully versatile dress this is. I watched the YouTube video in the hotel room and chose this twist design.
I often choose one color that is minimally represented in a pattern and match my accessories to help bring that color out. In this case, it was the magenta color against the cool blue hues.
I was never so happy to get out of Atlanta for the holiday than I was last Thursday. It’s not that I don’t love it here, but it had been raining for several days straight and the rain was to continue through the holiday weekend. I received a whopping dose of vitamin D from the beautiful California sun! We arrived in L.A. the night of the 4th. We settled into the Hotel Palomar and watched the fireworks from our room. The next day we headed to Malibu for a little pre-wedding brunch with the family.
As you can see, I’m back in my Zara skort. It has quickly become a summer favorite of mine. I decided to pair it with another tropical print top and rose gold jewelry. We enjoyed a scrumptious meal with a view of the beach. I’ve been to L.A. several times but never made it to Malibu. It was as picturesque as I had imagined.
After brunch, we made our way to Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills for the wedding rehearsal. The lush gardens and views of the city were a perfect backdrop for a wedding.
I just couldn’t get enough of these tall trees! They were just so majestic!
Me & the hubby.
Stay tuned for more details from my Cali trip coming up this week!

A few weekends ago I hosted another one of my Rodan & Fields skincare parties at the new Sugarcoat nail salon in the Vinings. These events are so much fun for me because I get to socialize with friends and make amazing new acquaintances all while sipping some vino. The fact that I make money from it is simply a bonus. It was a beautiful, balmy afternoon so I opted for a more tropical look from no other than my favorite store, Zara.
The new salon space is absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend paying a visit if you’re ever in the area.
I love this nail polish rainbow.
I just adore this Zara skort! It’s so cute and comfy.
Thanks for the great pics Joi!
