I believe this wholeheartedly. If you truly have a sense of style, you can create an amazing outfit whether you’re shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue or Goodwill!
Happy three day weekend everyone!

Are you ready for fall? I am!! Here’s what I’m crushing on for the upcoming season.
I was a little sad that summer was ending until I started noticing all of the pretty new boots that are beginning to debut for fall. Now that I got these gorgeous Seychelles lucky penny ankle boots, I can’t wait for fall! I first spotted them in my Anthropologie catalog but actually found them for much cheaper at DSW. I have skinny ankles so it is often difficult for me to find an ankle boot that doesn’t make my legs look like they are swimming in the boots. The nice curve on the top of these boots is very flattering and the pewter color is just awesome. Expect to see these in many of my future posts paired with jeans, skirts, and dresses!

I spent the majority of my schooling in an all-girl private school. I wore a uniform from the fifth through eighth grades. I would have been thankful for a cute little tartan skirt, but instead we wore a hideous wintergreen pinafore and white shirt. Being a young fashionista, I hated the fact that I was forced to look like everyone else. My mother loved it of course because it was much gentler on her wallet. In retrospect, I think maybe wearing a uniform was not so bad. It forced be to become more creative on ways to stand out from the crowd. I would express myself with my shoes and accessories wearing all sorts of funky jewelry I could get away with. Then there was the boxers trend. I can’t take credit for this one, but somehow we all started wearing mens boxers under our tunics. We would shorten them so the boxers would hang out below like a slip. The key was to find the most obnoxious boxers out there with hearts, dots, lips, etc. The trend went on for about a year before the administration put an end to it. In a exchange, however, we were granted permission to wear tennis shoes as long as they were white. It may not seem like a big deal, but to us….it was everything! All that being said, I never thought the day would come that I would want to wear anything that would even remotely remind me of my school days, but these sweet tartan looks have me reconsidering the trend. What do you think? Is plaid in your future this fall?
Last weekend my husband and I headed to a friend’s house for a dinner party. It was a rainy and gloomy evening so I wanted to brighten the mood with a fun outfit. What could be more fun than a polka dot peplum top and red skinny jeans? I must admit that I am very self conscious about by thighs and it takes courage for me to wear anything other than dark pants. These James jeans are remarkably comfortable and somewhat slimming. A trick I use to distract from my bottom half is to really dress up my top half. The peplum top gives the elusion of a smaller waist and the statement necklace draws the eye up towards my face. My mother gave me this cute little Talbots clutch a while ago and I loved how the stripes mixed well with the polka dots. Lastly, a nice stiletto heel makes the legs appear longer and me appear taller! I hope these little tips can help you when piecing an outfit together.

The only thing hotter than a printed pencil skirt is Naya Rivera in a printed pencil skirt. This small screen vixen is quickly becoming a rising style icon in Hollywood. Here she is wearing one of my favorite silhouettes with a pencil skirt and peplum top. This look may be a little intimidating to some wearing a fitted skirt that has a pattern. It may draw a little more attention to your hips and rear than you may desire, but a mirrored print tends to be more flattering because it draws the eye toward the middle. A peplum top is a perfect item for all ladies to incorporate in their wardrobe because it creates a beautiful hourglass shape. I also love pairing a body-hugging outfit with a lace up sandal. The height of the heel and the bareness of the sandal elongates the legs. I have created a similar look to Naya’s for the fashionista on a budget
The only thing that makes me more excited than a great designer collaboration is an affordable one! Insert….Phillip Lim for Target!! I have been drooling over a Phillip Lim satchel for a while now and I can finally get my hands on one. There has been some criticism by us fashion snobs about some of the quality of the clothing from previous Target designer collections, but from the looks of this one, it appears well crafted. Here’s a sneak peek of the collection.
I am dying over this mini satchel. I love the structure of this bag and the honey gold color makes it a little more fun.
Your basic trench coat gets a cool update with baby blue accents. It’s so crisp and so clean!
Leather accents are going to be very on trend this fall and this navy number is adorable. The A-line silhouette and soft short sleeves keep the dress flirty and fun.
Leather moto jacket. Tuxedo pants. Yes, please!!!
Beautiful, asian-inspired, floral print dress! This dress stands out from all the rest with it’s cool asymmetric hemline.
This is the big boy to the mini satchel. I can’t decide which one I want…
This color combo is killer! What more can I say?
I have been wanting to pull the trigger and add a graphic sweatshirt to my closet but I like the idea of this fun sweater even more. It reminds me of the quirky sweaters I used to wear in the 80’s.
The Phillip Lim for Target collection has everything. Classics, whimsy, color, and fun. It hits stores September 15th! Mark your calendars because I have a feeling this line will sell out quickly.
I want to know who turned off the summer weather switch in Atlanta and demand to know when they are going to turn it back on!!! It only reached a high of 63 degrees on Friday which put a wrench in my cute summer outfit ideas. You can’t go wrong with light layering so I paired a soft camo tee with a blazer and boyfriend jeans. I’ve always loved the combination of camouflage and pink. It’s weird, I know, but I love the thought of pairing such a feminine color with a pattern associated with ultimate masculinity.
I just love this Forever 21 necklace. It looks a lot more expensive than it is and adds great sparkle to any outfit.
Here I am spotted in front of Chick-a-Biddy. This is a restaurant chain that just made it’s way to Atlanta. I had heard good things about it and was eager to try it out. I glanced at the menu ahead of time and thought I was going to go with the black bean quinoa burger. I had a change of heart when I arrived and the savory smell of chicken tickled my nose. I ended up with the chicken tenders served with a wasabi-honey dipping sauce and a watermelon-feta-mint side salad. Let’s just say I was not disappointed!
