This past Saturday I enjoyed another fun ladies’ night out. I wanted to be casual for drinks and a movie but still fun and vibrant. I pulled out this traditional Chinese silk shirt I purchased on my honeymoon in Singapore. We were winding through the maze of shops in Chinatown when I spotted these beautiful, silk shirts. It was a perfect souvenir which is why I’m a little surprised this is my first time wearing it since I bought it over a year ago.
I love how the cut of this shirt hugs the natural curves a woman. I felt instantly regal and feminine in my blouse.
I paired this outfit with some 23K gold earrings and bangle I purchased in Dubai (where we got engaged). More souvenirs I reserve for special occasions.
These Joe’s jeans are so comfortable and the very slight bootcut style is a very flattering shape. A dark wash is also my favorite because it’s also very slimming. I really wanted to wear a pair of gold heels, but I didn’t have any other than sandals. Fall has finally arrived in Atlanta and I didn’t want to have cold toes during the movie. I opted for these Guess leopard print heels I got years ago. I don’t know if anyone else does this, but I tend to use leopard print as a neutral. I think it works ok. What do you think?
Although the Isabel Marant x H&M collection is slated to release November 14th, the looks have already been leaked! Hallelujah! I have perused through all 114 looks and I’m predicting an epic riot to occur on the launch date. The clothes exude the designer’s signature boho-sophisticated-hippie chic that the world has grown to love. Obviously, I haven’t been able to touch the fabrics but they appear to be very well made. Some stand-out pieces are definitely the leather trousers, the tweed crop jacket, and the black, slouchy booties. Here is just a little sneak peek below:
I cannot wait to see this jacket in the store and touch the fabric. It looks so intricate and divine. It’s cool but not so trendy that you can’t wear it for years to come.
I’m also loving this menswear-inspired overcoat! Another timeless piece you can wear forever.
I really appreciate how the Isabel Marant x H&M collection includes pieces with the designer’s signature tie-dye fabrics. The graphic print on these trousers are uniquely gorgeous.
I would never think to pair these booties with this length of dress but it looks very effortless in this look. Let’s talk about these booties! Slouchy, fringe, booties with a cool wedge-shaped heel. I see myself involved in a cat fight for these booties in my near future….
These black leather trousers are everything!!! The sexy, lace-up detail on the sides are a little reminiscent of Brett Michael’s Poison days but I think they will look really hot when you put them on.

A gold party dress???? Don’t mind if I do!
Mark your calendars and use a sick day at work. You do not want to miss this one!! See ya at H&M and don’t be mad if I fight you for the black fringe booties
Frye Engineer boots, I feel, are the most essential boot to have in one’s closet. It is truly a timeless boot made of superb quality that will complete any wardrobe. They are also so versatile in that they look great with just about everything. I wear them almost all year round with shorts, jeans, leggings, skirts, dresses, etc. They are not too expensive but definitely an investment piece you will get countless amount of use out of over the years. On top of it all, they are super comfortable. They’re perfect for traveling our just hanging out with friends. Honestly, if you buy one pair of shoes from my recommendation…..these are the ones!
If you read my previous post on black over-the-knee boots, you know I’m impatiently awaiting boot season to rock a pair. I’ll have to wait a little longer here in Atlanta but I’m already preparing ways to style my boots. That’s when I came across this look by Jessica Biel and was inspired. We are accustomed to seeing Jessica in body-hugging outfits showing off her rock- solid figure, but this chic yet relaxed look is very cool. Her grey coat is beautiful but I actually really like this mixed media one from Tinley Road. The vegan leather sleeves and asymmetric zipper gives it a little more interest and pairs well with the black boots. The Report boots I have featured have a gorgeous shiny leather finish and similar asymmetric zipper across the back. The small block heel is perfect because it still provides a little height but comfortable enough to stomp around the city all day long. Finish the look off with some comfortable jeans and a pair of sophisticated shades and you’ve got your fall uniform.
It’s a polka party on thestylishmd today! I used to avoid polka dots like the plague because they reminded me of Minnie Mouse or something my grandmother would wear. Recently, I decided to give them a chance. I’m realizing you can create a classic look with polka dots without looking too kitchy.
I have been wanting to try my hand at mixing prints so starting with contrasting polka dot patterns was a good way to dip my toes in the water. I found it to be a subtle way to style a mixed print look.
I love the peter pan collar on this blouse. It gives it a vintage feel so I paired it with classic pearl jewelry. I balanced all the patterns with neutral accessories.
What do you think? Have you attempted a mixed print look? I’d love to see them so feel free to share!
I’ve been playing dress up for as long as I can remember and I still get as much of a kick out of it as I did when I was little. I apologize for being M.I.A. for the last two days but my laptop decided to crash. Luckily, I was able to remedy the problem and I’m back in business. Have a fun weekend everyone!
I believe I mentioned in a previous post that I find over-the-knee boots to be a little intimidating. First, I am petite and I fear wearing a boot that comes to my thigh might take up the entire length of my thighs and make me look shorter. Secondly, some boots are a little reminiscent of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. After being out and and about and seeing over-the-knee boots on a variety of women, I’m starting to warm up to the idea. I actually have a pair of grey ones I bought a few years ago but I rarely wear them. I’ve been drawn to the basic black, low heel boots. These would be a great fall staple because they are a little more subtle and versatile. I can see pairing these with a flowy mini dress and moto jacket or leggings and a cozy knit sweater. Piperlime has some good options and I’ve selected my favorites to share with you.
1) I love the polished leather look of these French Connection Yolanda boots and the buckle detail provides just enough edge.
2) Stuart Weitzman 50/50 thigh boots have become the model that other designers are imitating. They are a huge celebrity favorite with their sleek, sophisticated style.
3) I think these Franco Sarto boots can give the pricey Stuart Weitzman boots a run for their money. The Franco Sarto boot is very similar for only $179!
4)Rachel Roy Gavin boots are a true representation of Rachel Roy’s posh style with the gorgeous gold lining detail.
Unless you have been living under a rock (or not reading my blog) you would know that yesterday was the launch of Phillip Lim for Target. The buzz around this collection made me think about another amazing Target designer collaboration, Prabal for Target. I had purchased this outfit in the winter and had never worn it! I was attending a social event last week and thought it would be the perfect transitional fall outfit for an Atlanta evening.
Since it’s still reaches close to 90 degrees during the day, wearing shorts and a sheer blouse kept me cool. The blazer kept my shoulders warm while being inside the overzealously air-conditioned indoors.
I must say I did step outside of my comfort zone with these bright florals. I haven’t liked florals since middle school when I was forced to wear floral Laura Ashley dresses to special occasions. Those days are clearly over and this psychedelic outfit is a far cry from any dainty floral print dress.
I was able to peruse some of the pieces from the new Phillip Lim for Target collection and was pretty impressed. I especially loved the handbags and the floral print shirtdress. Look forward to seeing my pieces in a future post. If you haven’t seen the collection, you can view it here.
Thanks for reading!
