As 2013 comes to an end, we often find ourselves reflecting on our lives and the events that occurred over the past year. There may be some things we made be proud of, and others, not so much. People love to set goals for the new year as well as lofty resolutions. I used to set resolutions for myself every year but felt very disappointed in myself when I couldn’t keep the resolutions. I found that it was a set up for a sour tone for the rest of the year. So, about two years ago I decided to scrap the resolutions and just try to become more of what I already am. There’s always room for improvement in every aspect of one’s life so I just focused on being a better friend, daughter, wife, doctor, etc. You’ll be surprised how much you can accomplish just by increasing your awareness. Lastly, take advantage of a fresh start by truly making the most of all of the opportunities that are presented to you. By learning to appreciate your current blessings, you will further enjoy the new blessings that are yet to come.
New Year’s Eve is just a week away. Are you party ready? If not, don’t freak out. I’ve got two great outfit ideas for you. This is the biggest party of the year so go out with a bang and wear something extravagant. Go for the gold in a sexy, strapless, gold dress and make it even more luxe with a fur bolero. If your not the flashy type, try a sophisticated jumpsuit with large, sparkly earrings. Either look will help you bring in the new year in style. So, head on out to the stores and take advantage of all the after Christmas sales and find yourself a fabulous ensemble. Feel free to share your looks!

Whatever you decide to do this New Year’s Eve, do it fabulously. Many blessings to you and yours in the upcoming year!
I had the wonderful opportunity to meet a talented designer at her trunk show held at House of Couture Boutique in Buckhead. Ashley R. Ryles is the beauty and brains behind her label AR’RYLES which features meticulously crafted designer pencil skirts. Ashley is a graduate of the Miami International University of Arts & Design and has interned with the esteemed label, Badgley Mischka. She is now based in New York but has roots in Atlanta. She has lived in Miami and Europe as well which has helped broaden her keen fashion sense which is evident in her designs.
April McRae, the owner of House Couture was a gracious host for this fabulous event. Her shop is located on Bennett Street in the heart of Buckhead. She carries chic, edgy, one-of-a-kind clothes that will catch the eye of any fashionista. Next time you’re in the area stop by and tell her I sent you
Ashley really kept the curves of a woman’s body in mind when designing her skirts. They are fitted in the waist and curve naturally with the hips before tapering at the bottom just below the knee. If you look closely, you can see the seam she has created carving out the hip area. It’s a look that is flattering on a full-figured woman or it can accentuate the curves on a smaller frame. My favorite is the gold leather over lay skirt pictured above but they are all super sexy!
In the picture below, I’m here with the ladies in our AR’RYLES skirts. It’s so funny to me how I look like I’m standing in a hole between these two glamazons, London, Ashley’s sister and Ashleyon the right.
For more information about AR’RYLES or to purchase a skirt check out her website here. House Couture of Boutique is located at 25 Bennett St., Suite C, Atlanta, GA.
There are some styles that just never fall out of fashion. Who doesn’t love a chic equestrian look? The elegance of a riding jacket and the timelessness of a pair of riding boots keeps this look relevant. I will admit that the silhouette of actual riding pants are not very flattering but they can be easily substituted with a pair of skinny jeans or even faux leather leggings for an extra kick.
I found this gorgeous blazer during a semi-annual sale at Nordstrom over a year ago. I was smitten by the tails on the back and the faux leather accents.
Usually I wear black or brown skinny jeans with this outfit but decided to switch it up a little bit by wearing these army green ones by Trafulac.
What classic look do you love?
Thanks for reading!
I was wearing….
Blazer: Charles Gray of London. Top: Victoria’s Secret. Jeans: Trafulac (Zara). Boots: Area Forte. Handbag: Louis Vuitton. Earrings: gifted.
Now that the hectic holidays are over, it’s time to relax and cuddle up on the sofa and enjoy your post-Christmas food coma. Besides a fuzzy robe (which you should NEVER wear in public), there’s nothing like warming up in cozy cardigans. These are definitely one of my favorite wardrobe staples. You can wear a lightweight one in the summer or a heavier knit variety for autumn and winter. I tend to have a few plain ones to dress up or down with jeans or over a dress. I love a long cardigan as well, especially belted or with a hood to wear in lieu of a jacket during the cooler months. A soft cardigan is also great for travel paired with patterned leggings for a fun look. There are so many different styles to satisfy any taste whether you prefer a classic preppy look or a relaxed bohemian style. No matter what style you choose a quality cardigan sweater is a nice asset to any closet.
It’s the holidays which means party, party, party!! There will be many events to attend this season between work, family, and friends, so are you party ready? If the answer is no, feel free to be inspired by this holiday soiree style guide. Some people tend to shy away from traditional holiday colors because they don’t want to seem too literal, but I say go for it! When else can you dress reminiscent of a Christmas ornament and get away with it? Now don’t go overboard with an ugly holiday sweater but try to wear something festive and classy. A red dress is a perfect example and plus you can wear it again. This eye-catching hue will make you the life of the party. Adorn it with glittery shoes and gold jewelry to really shine. If you care to be a little more subtle, try a jewel tone like emerald, royal blue, or plum. Here I paired this gorgeous Modcloth green dress with navy accents. A fun shoe like these Charlotte Olympia kitten pumps will make for a great conversation piece.

Here’s to having all eyes on you at your next holiday party!
I was thumbing through a gossip magazine (yes…I admit it) a few weeks ago and spotted these gorgeous shoes on Rashida Jones. I scoured the web trying to find out who the designer was and discovered the beautiful world of Bionda Castana. The brains behind these stunning shoes are two British designers, Jennifer Portman and Natalia Barbieri. The designers utilize inspiration from their Italian heritage to create impeccably handcrafted shoes with luxurious silks, lace, velvet, and leather. The British label gained it’s notoriety by many celebs, including Keira Knightley, wearing them on the red carpet. Now for a small fortune you can adorn these shoe to your next holiday soiree
This classic silk leopard print will never go out of style.
I love this soft grey suede accented with gold studs to give it a little more edge.
A tall, velvet, black boot….why not?
These pretty babies are so dandy!
This pointed-toe pump with the fan details and rich lace has such a regal feel to it. Fit for a queen.
It will be a while before any of these shoes make it into my wardrobe, but until then….a girl can dream!
My friends know I am NOT a gamer. I have sent out several blast posts on Facebook to prevent people from inviting me to play games like Candy Crush. I always felt they were a silly waste of time until a friend of mine introduced to me the Covet fashion app. I’m now completely hooked! It really allows every fashion addict to live vicariously through their virtual closet creating looks and buying more covetable clothes! The clothes come from real designers like Rachel Zoe, Rebecca Minkoff, Nanette Lepore, and Halston Heritage. So how does it work? There are several events you can enter to win prizes for your closet and also real prizes. You need tickets to enter the events which you earn by voting on the looks of the other players. The looks with the highest ratings (4 stars or higher) win the prize. The app is really creative with the different scenarios it sets for the players to create a look around. Some of my favorites have been a vixen on a night out and a Venezuelan fling. You are able to choose everything including hair style, skin color, make-up, jewelry….everything! It is absolutely so much fun! Here are some of my favorite and winning looks:
A night at the symphony
Shopping on Rodeo Drive
Elegant dinner party hostess.
The chic detective.
A Venezuelan fling.
