Around Town: Flatz Shoes Boutique- Atlanta

This morning I read my email as I usually do and stumbled across a pleasant surprise in my Daily Candy email.  There was a grand opening of a new shoe store in Buckhead called Flatz Shoes!  The concept is simple…..they sell only flat shoes.  The savvy woman behind this clever idea is Kelci Stringer.  Although I am a die-hard high heel kind of girl, I was intrigued by the idea.  I met a good friend of mine for lunch and we moseyed on down the street to explore the new store.  As we opened the door, we were wowed by the impeccably designed space and were greeted by a very personably woman, Christina.

They don’t carry your typical department store shoes.  Instead you will find spiked pointy-toe flats and awesomely rugged boots by some really great brands including Blackstone, Frye, A.B.S., and Ramon Tenza.  They also have gorgeous loafers, smoking slippers, ballet flats and booties.  I fell in love with several pairs and will definitely return for some purchases.

You can contact them at info@flatzshoes.com or even better, stop by the store at 314 Pharr Rd, Suite A in Buckhead.  Be prepared for a wonderful shoe experience!

Shoe Review: It’s a Reva Party!

The Tory Burch Reva flat is probably the most popular ballet flat on the planet.  There’s just something magnetic about the simple design and the unmistakable logo medallion.  I remember when I was thinking about buying a pair, several people had complained about how uncomfortable they were because of the gathered, elastic detail on the heel.  One friend said she had only worn them twice but didn’t want to consign them because she had paid so much for them. So, they just sat in her closet. Such a shame.  I decided to go to Nordstrom shoe department because they always have excellent customer service and they didn’t let me down.  When I asked to try on a pair of the flats, the salesman immediately said “You need to size up at least a half size with these shoes”. Problem solved! I’ve been wearing my Reva’s pain free since then.  The leather ones I only had to go up half a size, but I went up a whole size for my glitter pair.

What I’m Digging: Oka b Shoes

Last month I went to my favorite shoe store, Happy Feet Boutique, for a pedicure and a sales representative from a local shoe company was in the store.  The company is Oka b shoes and they are based just up the road from Atlanta in Buford, GA.  There are several great things about this company. One is that they have created a line of shoes that are irresistibly adorable and fun.  There were so many varieties of colors and styles we had so much trouble trying to decide which ones to choose for the store.  They are also extremely comfortable due to their ergonomic footbed and patented microplast technology materials that are also anti-microbial! These shoes are machine washable, and get this….they’re also recyclable! Yep! If you no longer want your cute Oka b’s you can take them to your local recycling center or send them back to the company!   Beautiful, comfortable, and eco-friendly makes these shoes a win-win in my eyes.  Check them out!
