It looks like tartan is here to stay. The safe way to incorporate this look into your wardrobe would be to add a tartan blazer or shirt but why not be a little daring and try some plaid pants? I stumbled upon these adorable pair from Mango and was inspired to pair some looks with them. I will admit that wearing plaid pants can be a little tricky so I have created three different ways to rock this look. The first look is for someone with a more edgy personality. The addition of a cool leather moto jacket and Jeffrey Campbell booties to an otherwise preppy look gives it a London rocker, school-girl look. If your looking for a more work appropriate look try pairing the pants with a feminine silk blouse, a structured blazer, and pearls. If you’re a little self-concious about your rear, you can wear a long cardigan with a scarf and tall boots to provide a cozy and casual look.
Which look do you like the best? I would love to see what outfits you come up with so feel free to share!
There are so many great things to love about fall. Football, festivals, and my favorite….boot weather! As much as I long for summer after a long winter, I think I look forward to cease all the sweating and the need to cozy up in a warm sweater a little more. Hence, my idea of the perfect fall uniform. First item is an open-front cardigan. This is a great transition before needing and actual jacket. I personally like ones that have a draping effect for a little more sophisticated look. Second item, which I think everyone has, is a nice pair of dark wash jeans. Preferably skinny ones that will tuck nicely into your third item….boots! I am the queen of high heels but I actually prefer the style of riding boots the most. A stiletto bootie is great for a night out but you will get a lot more wear out of a classic, tall leather boot. Finally, top off the look with a patterned scarf for some extra flare. And there you have it….your official fall uniform.
Leather in the summer just never really made sense to me. For obvious reasons, of course. It’s a hot, heavy material that keeps you warm in the winter and otherwise will cause you to sweat. I remember when I was in high school in the early 90’s and summer leather was making a comeback with a vengeance. You remember Cross Colours and the jeans with the leather accent down the front? What about the long leather shorts guys used to wear and the leather short rompers the girls used to rock? I distinctly remember going to our local amusement park in July and observing the cool teenage boys wearing the leather shorts and wiping their foreheads with handkerchiefs. Silly, right? Well, don’t laugh too hard because after viewing the new spin on leather with the laser cuts, you just might be caught in some summer leather yourself. Designers from Ferragamo to Jeffrey Campbell all have their take on this sexy trend. What do you think?
White Shoes! They’re making a comeback with a vengeance this spring, but are you feeling this look? I’m truly torn. I don’t know if it’s the doctor in me, but when I think of white shoes it reminds me of old school nurses shoes. But I have to admit, some of these shoes this season are pretty fly and I am tempted to try the trend. I especially like those with a lucite heel, that way you can knock out two trends in one. What do you think? Will you be trying the white shoe trend?
