Shoes to Covet: Bionda Castana

I was thumbing through a gossip magazine (yes…I admit it) a few weeks ago and spotted these gorgeous shoes on Rashida Jones.  I scoured the web trying to find out who the designer was and discovered the beautiful world of Bionda Castana.  The brains behind these stunning shoes are two British designers, Jennifer Portman and Natalia Barbieri.  The designers utilize inspiration from their Italian heritage to create impeccably handcrafted shoes with luxurious silks, lace, velvet, and leather.  The British label gained it’s notoriety by many celebs, including Keira Knightley, wearing them on the red carpet.  Now for a small fortune you can adorn these shoe to your next holiday soiree :-)

This classic silk leopard print will never go out of style.

I love this soft grey suede accented with gold studs to give it a little more edge.

A tall, velvet, black boot….why not?

These pretty babies are so dandy!

This pointed-toe pump with the fan details and rich lace has such a regal feel to it.  Fit for a queen.

It will be a while before any of these shoes make it into my wardrobe, but until then….a girl can dream!

Shoe Review: Kork-Ease

Today’s shoe review will be a little different.  Instead of reviewing a pair of shoes I already own I’m reviewing shoes I want to own.  I was in my friend’s store last week and I spotted these beautiful Mary Jane pumps.  I slipped them on and they felt like heaven.  Kork-Ease is a new line to my friend’s store, but the company has been around for a long time.  Actually, since 1953.  The company is based in Brooklyn, New York and became popular for their thick, cork platform sandals.  Now they have a variety of gorgeous shoes to offer such as boots and adorable wedge oxfords.  These are the shoes that captured my heart…

Kork-Ease

Aren’t they sweet!  It’s great to find a company that can make a comfortable shoe and still maintain their modern vintage vibe.

Shoe Review: Dolce Vita Studded Oxfords

I’m going to keep with my theme of borrowed from the boys with these Dolce Vita oxfords I bought a few years ago at Bloomingdale’s in NYC.  I was drawn to the quirkiness of them.  The smoky grey color accented with studs with a very masculine feel.  They weren’t necessarily en vogue when I bought them but I got them anyway because I liked them.  Now oxfords are back in style and I already have a pair.  It just goes to show you that you should just buy what you like because eventually, it all comes back in fashion.

Shoe Review: It’s a Reva Party!

The Tory Burch Reva flat is probably the most popular ballet flat on the planet.  There’s just something magnetic about the simple design and the unmistakable logo medallion.  I remember when I was thinking about buying a pair, several people had complained about how uncomfortable they were because of the gathered, elastic detail on the heel.  One friend said she had only worn them twice but didn’t want to consign them because she had paid so much for them. So, they just sat in her closet. Such a shame.  I decided to go to Nordstrom shoe department because they always have excellent customer service and they didn’t let me down.  When I asked to try on a pair of the flats, the salesman immediately said “You need to size up at least a half size with these shoes”. Problem solved! I’ve been wearing my Reva’s pain free since then.  The leather ones I only had to go up half a size, but I went up a whole size for my glitter pair.

If you don’t know Sophia Webster……then get FAMILIAR!!!!  This Brit designer worked as a design assistant to famed shoe designer, Nicholas Kirkwood, before debuting her own collection in S/S 2013.  I have fallen head-over-heels for her whimsical, fantasy-like shoes.  Take a look at these beautiful specimens and get swept away into the magical world of Sophia Webster.
