Rise up in Gladiator Sandals!

Ok. This is a trend I wasn’t too sure about at first, but know I’m turning the corner.  I think it was the stiletto version of gladiators that threw me off.  They seemed a little too brazen or even cartoonish, but the flat versions have a nice bohemian feel.  Gladiator sandals are not necessarily a new trend but will definitely be revisited strongly this spring.  I think that they would look absolutely adorable with a soft, flowing mini dress like I saw in a Macy’s fashion show last week.  So, I was on the fence, but now I think they’re a go.  What do you think? Will the inner gladiator in you rise up this spring?

Shoe Review: Corso Como Over-the-Knee Boot

I have been searching high and low for the perfect black, low-heel, over-the-knee boot.  I really wanted the highly coveted Stuart Weitzman 50/50 boots but $595 was not in the budget.  So, I was hunting for a cheaper knock-off and found the Corso Como over-the-knee boot on Piperlime.  Of course, I waited until after Christmas for them to go on sale and alas, they were sold out!!!  Back on the hunt, I scoured the web and found them! Nordstrom to the rescue, again!  Not only were they in my size and on sale, my husband gave me a gift card for Christmas.  When I received them in the mail, I was not disappointed.  I loved the glossy leather finish and the elastic back provides a nice snug fit on the leg.  I couldn’t wait to wear them and paired them with some skinny jeans and an oversized sweater.  I will admit that the toe box is not very deep and I did began to feel it on the top of my foot.  I think if I change my socks, this will remedy the problem.  I still absolutely love these boots!

Holiday Soiree Style Guide

It’s the holidays which means party, party, party!!  There will be many events to attend this season between work, family, and friends, so are you party ready?  If the answer is no, feel free to be inspired by this holiday soiree style guide.  Some people tend to shy away from traditional holiday colors because they don’t want to seem too literal, but I say go for it!  When else can you dress reminiscent of a Christmas ornament and get away with it?  Now don’t go overboard with an ugly holiday sweater but try to wear something festive and classy.  A red dress is a perfect example and plus you can wear it again.  This eye-catching hue will make you the life of the party.  Adorn it with glittery shoes and gold jewelry to really shine.  If you care to be a little more subtle, try a jewel tone like emerald, royal blue, or plum.  Here I paired this gorgeous Modcloth green dress with navy accents.  A fun shoe like these Charlotte Olympia kitten pumps will make for a great conversation piece.

Trend: Over-the-Knee Boots

I believe I mentioned in a previous post that I find over-the-knee boots to be a little intimidating.  First, I am petite and I fear wearing a boot that comes to my thigh might take up the entire length of my thighs and make me look shorter.  Secondly, some boots are a little reminiscent of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.  After being out and and about and seeing over-the-knee boots on a variety of women, I’m starting to warm up to the idea.  I actually have a pair of grey ones I bought a few years ago but I rarely wear them.  I’ve been drawn to the basic black, low heel boots.  These would be a great fall staple because they are a little more subtle and versatile.  I can see pairing these with a flowy mini dress and moto jacket or leggings and a cozy knit sweater.  Piperlime has some good options and I’ve selected my favorites to share with you.

Black over-the-knee boots

1) I love the polished leather look of these French Connection Yolanda boots and the buckle detail provides just enough edge.
2) Stuart Weitzman 50/50 thigh boots have become the model that other designers are imitating.  They are a huge celebrity favorite with their sleek, sophisticated style.
3) I think these Franco Sarto boots can give the pricey Stuart Weitzman boots a run for their money.  The Franco Sarto boot is very similar for only $179!
4) Rachel Roy Gavin  boots are a true representation of Rachel Roy’s posh style with the gorgeous gold lining detail.
5) Wow! What more can I say. These Sigerson Morrison ILAINE boots are soooo hot!
6) The Report Gwyn  boots have a gold zipper detail that runs across the back of the boot making this black boot stand out from the rest.

Tailgate in Style: Cute Ladies NFL Apparel

Are you ready for some football?!?! I know I am.  As a die-hard Steeler fan, I can’t wait for the upcoming NFL season.  I’ve been going to football games since I was a little girl.  I remember swimming in my Dad’s jersey because they did not make a lot of fan gear for children at the time nor ladies for that matter.  But, oh, how times have changed.  NFL apparel companies have caught on how many female fans are out there and have begun to capitalize on it by designing fashionable ladies NFL apparel!  Companies like Junkfood clothing and Touch by Alyssa Milano have some really cute options available.  Instead of a sloppy jersey, you can choose a soft, vintage t-shirt, bedazzaled tank tops, and even wedge sneakers!  Now us ladies can still look stylish while cheering on our team.  I know I’m biased with my sample outfits below but you can apply it to your team :-)
