Alas, another MBFW is over but it left behind a brilliant outlook on what’s to come in the fall. There are a few trends that really jumped out and made me excited for the next fall season. I’m happy to see that capes were still on the runways. There is something so mysterious and sophisticated about a cape that I just love.

Lupita Nyong’o was stunning in a jaw-dropping Ralph Lauren cape gown at the Golden Globes and it appears other designers are following suit with their own designs.
One of my favorite movies of all times is Clueless and that’s exactly what I thought of as I watched the Tory Burch show. She brought back thigh and knee high socks with chunky heeled shoes. Classic!
It appeared many designers may be fans of Scandal as there were quite a few wrap coats on the runways indicative of Olivia Pope’s flawless style.

It was refreshing to see pretty pastel palettes as opposed to the typical warm colors. For some reason, I feel that clothes in heavy textures like wool and tweed look so much cooler in light colors. Unexpected and chic.
Black and white is a look that never goes out of style. It’s fun to see how designers continue to re-invent this look time after time.
Just as radiant orchid is the pantone of this spring, azure blue is the star of fall. This deeply rich blue hue will make anyone feel like royalty.

Thanks for reading my MBFW runway trend compilation. What were some of your favorite trends?
Like most people around the country, I headed to a Super Bowl party yesterday. I was completely apathetic about both teams and it’s purely chance that my Super Bowl outfit had the colors of the winning Seattle Seahawks. If the Steelers aren’t in the Super Bowl, I will typically just pull for the team with the least amount of rings so no one challenges the Steelers 6 championship rings record. I initially was going to wear black, coated skinny jeans with a blouse and statement necklace, but it felt a little too dressy for the occasion. So, I opted for a simple plaid shirt I found at Target and a pair of skinny jeans I haven’t been able to fit into for over a year! Thanks to the master cleanse and Dietbet, I’m back in my Tory Burch zipper jeans!
It was a surprisingly balmy day of temps close to 70 degrees. It was hard to believe Snowmegeddon of Atlanta was just five days prior.
It is still hard for me to wear flats with skinny jeans. Being a petite and curvy girl, I always feel the need to wear high heels to elongate my silhouette. These nude color (nude for my complexion) pumps from Aldo are pretty comfortable.
Of course, I still had to glam up the outfit with a chunky necklace and some fun bracelets. What did you wear for your Super Bowl party?
There’s nothing like celebrating New Year’s Eve than with good friends, salsa dancing, and of course….booze! My husband and I met up with three other couples at Loca Luna. It’s a quaint little salsa spot in Amsterdam Walk in Midtown. I was happy to have somewhere to wear a sparkly dress and dance all night.
A picture of us ladies all gussied up in our party dresses. I found this black dress with a gorgeous sequin Aztec-pattern down the front at Fab’rik. I love the sexy mesh cut-outs on the side (although it did give me some side boob action…lol). It was a cold night so I paired it with opaque tights and booties.
The best part about the evening was bringing in the new year with my handsome husband! Doesn’t he look so dapper?
There’s no better way to kick off the holiday season than getting together with friends. This weekend my husband and I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a 40th surprise birthday celebration for a friend of ours. It was so sweet how his wife orchestrated a beautiful event with friends and family from all over. The guest of honor was truly surprised and expressed his gratitude to all of the guests that came from near and far to celebrate his day.
When it comes to parties, you can’t go wrong with a slick, all-black ensemble. After much consideration, I elected to wear this black faux leather peplum top with this skirt which really accented the faux leather panels on the skirt. I was inspired by some great advice I received from Clinton Kelly himself a few weeks ago on what to pair with a midi pencil skirt. You can read about the event with Clinton Kelly in my previous post.
All in all it was a great night and I’m looking forward to more upcoming holiday soirees
It looks like tartan is here to stay. The safe way to incorporate this look into your wardrobe would be to add a tartan blazer or shirt but why not be a little daring and try some plaid pants? I stumbled upon these adorable pair from Mango and was inspired to pair some looks with them. I will admit that wearing plaid pants can be a little tricky so I have created three different ways to rock this look. The first look is for someone with a more edgy personality. The addition of a cool leather moto jacket and Jeffrey Campbell booties to an otherwise preppy look gives it a London rocker, school-girl look. If your looking for a more work appropriate look try pairing the pants with a feminine silk blouse, a structured blazer, and pearls. If you’re a little self-concious about your rear, you can wear a long cardigan with a scarf and tall boots to provide a cozy and casual look.
Which look do you like the best? I would love to see what outfits you come up with so feel free to share!
It’s not officially Labor Day weekend until HITP (House in the park) kicks off! Sunday was the 9th annual HITP and it was quite fitting that I wore my UNIF Hotmes t-shirt because that’s exactly what we were by the end of the day.
This was my third year attending this event and it has become increasingly popular each year. People come out with their family and friends setting up tents and grills. Everyone enjoys food and drinks while listening to some of the best house music djs from all around the country.
The day began with a scorching sun and humidity. Thankfully we had some protection from the sun with our tent but we were still sweating bullets.
Dark clouds began to roll in and replaced the sun with a cool breeze.
Enter inside the pavilion if you dare but come prepared to dance until the wheels come off! Once we got inside, the sky opened up and it began to rain. The tribal beats from the music made it feel like we were doing some sort of rain dance.
There’s nothing more cathartic to me than dancing. I just feel so free and happy!
This a ‘before’ picture because we were all looking like hot messes at the end of the day. We had such a great time. House music, food, friends, and spirits equals a fantastic way to celebrate Labor Day weekend.
How did you celebrate?

I want to know who turned off the summer weather switch in Atlanta and demand to know when they are going to turn it back on!!! It only reached a high of 63 degrees on Friday which put a wrench in my cute summer outfit ideas. You can’t go wrong with light layering so I paired a soft camo tee with a blazer and boyfriend jeans. I’ve always loved the combination of camouflage and pink. It’s weird, I know, but I love the thought of pairing such a feminine color with a pattern associated with ultimate masculinity.
I just love this Forever 21 necklace. It looks a lot more expensive than it is and adds great sparkle to any outfit.
Here I am spotted in front of Chick-a-Biddy. This is a restaurant chain that just made it’s way to Atlanta. I had heard good things about it and was eager to try it out. I glanced at the menu ahead of time and thought I was going to go with the black bean quinoa burger. I had a change of heart when I arrived and the savory smell of chicken tickled my nose. I ended up with the chicken tenders served with a wasabi-honey dipping sauce and a watermelon-feta-mint side salad. Let’s just say I was not disappointed!
Last week I received my Tory Burch Fall Lookbook in the mail and was super excited. As I perused the pages, my eyes were blessed by the beautiful models adorned in rich textiles such as velvet and tweed. As usual, the next look was better than the last and then, I saw it. A huge bug pendant on this gorgeous dress.
When I think of a glamorous, vintage-inspired pendant an insect is not the first thing that comes to mind. I continued to browse the pages and also noticed her dragonfly theme, which I must say, I’m a little obsessed over. This prompted me to see what other designers were following this trend and discovered there were many. I have compiled a few of my favorite finds including the Tory Burch dragonfly pumps I’m simply dying over.
So, what do you think? Will you bugging this Fall?
I was never so happy to get out of Atlanta for the holiday than I was last Thursday. It’s not that I don’t love it here, but it had been raining for several days straight and the rain was to continue through the holiday weekend. I received a whopping dose of vitamin D from the beautiful California sun! We arrived in L.A. the night of the 4th. We settled into the Hotel Palomar and watched the fireworks from our room. The next day we headed to Malibu for a little pre-wedding brunch with the family.
As you can see, I’m back in my Zara skort. It has quickly become a summer favorite of mine. I decided to pair it with another tropical print top and rose gold jewelry. We enjoyed a scrumptious meal with a view of the beach. I’ve been to L.A. several times but never made it to Malibu. It was as picturesque as I had imagined.
After brunch, we made our way to Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills for the wedding rehearsal. The lush gardens and views of the city were a perfect backdrop for a wedding.
I just couldn’t get enough of these tall trees! They were just so majestic!
Me & the hubby.
Stay tuned for more details from my Cali trip coming up this week!
